150,000 billion saved environmental impact points in 30 years of eRecycling

SENS eRecycling has been actively committed to the environment through working together with partners for 30 years. The proper and environmentally friendly disposal reduced annual environmental impact by a staggering 4 per cent.

In 2019, around 16 kilograms of electronic waste was amassed per person in Switzerland. This is why 1.2 million tonnes of electrical and electronic appliances were introduced to the SENS eRecycling cycle in the last 30 years. An impressive figure. But how exactly does this help the environment? To find out, SENS eRecycling calculated the environmental benefits of eRecycling using a life cycle assessment. The disposal process throughout the entire value chain was assessed: from the collection, sorting and disassembling of the appliances to the recycling and proper disposal of hazardous substances. The life cycle assessment showed that an unbelievable 150,000 billion environmental impact points were saved through 30 years of eRecycling.
