On Tuesday, 18 October 2022, we will be holding the "Simply solar – energy from photovoltaics" forum at Olma together with Swissolar, the Swiss Solar Energy Association. On this day, various experts will provide exciting insights into the world of solar energy. Special attention will be paid to the question of how farms can generate valuable additional benefits through the use of photovoltaic modules.
Agri-photovoltaics (Agri-PV) is still a relatively new discipline in Swiss agriculture. It refers to a process for the simultaneous use of agricultural land for the production of food and renewable energy. In this process, agricultural production and solar power generation are not seen as competing goals, but are cleverly combined to create valuable synergies.
The extent to which Agri-PV represents a great opportunity for agriculture, sustainability and energy supply is demonstrated by experts at "Simply solar" using concrete case studies and current research results. For example, promising applications are possible in farms with fruit and berry cultures - and the use of Agri-PV also leads to many advantages in air heating for hay drying.
In addition to the focus on agri-photovoltaics, visitors to "Simply solar" will receive a basic overview of the industry and learn a lot of interesting facts about the life cycle of a photovoltaic module - from production and installation to use. And, of course, questions about the proper disposal of solar systems will not be neglected. Further exciting best practice examples on recycling and photovoltaic expansion in the Canton of St. Gallen round off the whole event.
