A consistent approach to environmental protection

As a SENS eRecycling partner, you can be proud of our impressive track record together.

The recycling system for electrical equipment in Switzerland is not only the oldest in the world, but also one of the most successful.

It’s no coincidence that the recycling system of SENS eRecycling serves as a model for the implementation of similar systems in numerous other countries. With its extensive expertise, SENS eRecycling also plays an important role in the establishment of international quality standards.

But what does that mean in practice? How successful are we? The annually published life cycle assessment provides further information and contains some impressive figures.

Recovering valuable materials

Since 1990, SENS eRecycling has been dedicated to the safe removal of hazardous substances from electrical equipment and the recycling of the materials contained in this equipment. In 2023, the following recyclable materials were fed back into the cycle.

Recycling with measurable benefits

In addition to the number of electric appliances processed and the volume of recyclable materials, the annual life cycle assessment published by SENS eRecycling also reports on the organisation’s contribution to a cleaner environment. This is done in the form of environmental impact points (EIP). In 2023, this environmental benefit of the entire SENS recycling system amounted to 1,509 billion EIP. This corresponds to the environmental impact of 60,000 Swiss citizens in one year, equivalent to the population of the city of Biel.
