Non-system participants
Some market participants evade their responsibility and do not make a financial contribution to the recycling system of SENS eRecycling.
SENS eRecycling defines non-system participants as manufacturers and importers of electrical equipment that consciously decide against joining a voluntary recycling system such as SENS eRecycling. This means that non-system participants do not make a financial contribution to the disposal scheme in Switzerland.
System participants, on the other hand, have joined a voluntary system and make a financial contribution to the disposal arrangements in Switzerland. They regularly report the volume of electrical equipment they have sold to the recycling system of SENS eRecycling and pay the corresponding disposal contributions. The contribution amount for each item of equipment is outlined in a tariff and equipment list. The revenue raised from the contribution funds the collection, transportation, recycling and quality control of waste electrical equipment, as well as awareness-raising measures. If a company chooses not to participate, no contributions are received for the products it sells, even though these products usually end up in the recycling system of SENS eRecycling at the end of their useful life.
